Individual counseling occurs on an as-needed basis when obstacles in a student's life impedes their ability to function at school. Some of these include, but are not limited to: - Changes in family dynamics - The loss of a family member or someone close to them - A traumatic event - Being bullied or picked on - Crisis situations - Many, many other reasons School counseling is meant to be brief and goal-oriented. If long term counseling is needed or if the reason for counseling is beyond the scope of the school counselor's authority or abilities then a referral to an outside mental health provider will be made. Parents, teachers, administrators or students themselves can request to meet with the counselor either through this website or at school.
